Detailed Review

Founded in 2014, Purple Carrot is a plant-based meal delivery service on a mission to empower you to eat more plants. We’re making it easy to cook innovative, delicious, plant-based meals to power your day.

Starting at $9.99 per serving, Purple Carrot is an affordable and effective way to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and plant-based proteins into your diet.

How it Works?

Purple Carrot, a meal kit subscription service that delivers all the ingredients needed to organize the meal weekly.

When we first signed up, we had to choose between a two-serving plan that ships three or four meals every week and a four-serving plan that ships two or three meals a week. As the company states, it are often great for a small household of meal-preppers who want to stock their fridge with meals for the week.

The two-serving plan costs around $12 per serving, shipping included, and offers a variety of eight meals per week. The four-serving plan costs about $10, and you’ll choose between four meal options. You can see what’s on the menu up to four weeks ahead and skip the weeks that don’t have dishes you would like .

Meals include a variety of fresh, high quality ingredients, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, herbs, spices, and sauces. Salt, pepper, and vegetable oil may not be included with your order. Nut milk, beans, tofu, tempeh and other non-produce items are organic.

Prioritizing on fruits and vegetables that are organic and free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), these options are sometimes limited by shipping constraints and availability.

Quality & Quantity

Purple Carrot meals and snacks are vegan, making the service a great choice for those following a plant-based diet.

Purple Carrot also labels recipes that are high protein, low calorie, gluten-free, and nut-free, making meal selection easy for those with certain food preferences or dietary restrictions.

However, keep in mind that Purple Carrot may not be a good fit for those following eating patterns that typically include animal proteins, such as paleo or ketogenic diets.

Servings Quantity are appropriate for small family according to plans but meals take 30-40 minutes to prepare.

Taste & Freshness

Meals are designed by a team of chefs and features seasonal flavors and interesting ingredients. Their recipes include a range of herbs, spices, sauces, and condiments that help maximize flavor.

For fresh and uncontaminated delivery meals are packaged and protected using insulated liners and ice packs to ensure that they stay cool during transit and are delivered on time.

Bottom Line

A plant-based meal kit service that creates it easy to organize healthy meals reception by delivering pre-portioned ingredients for you at home.

It offers a rotating weekly menu that features nutritious and flavorful recipes and should be an honest option if you’re looking to transition to a plant-based diet and luxuriate in more home-cooked meals.

However, it’s going to not be ideal for those that prefer eating mostly or only organic, people with certain dietary restrictions, and people who are pressed for time during the week.
